Spectacol, a ZX Spectrum emulator licensed under GPL v3+, is built upon the robust FUSE framework (FUSE Spectrum emulator). As a free application, it offers a comprehensive suite of features that enhance the classic gaming experience.

The FUSE emulator is recognized for its extensive list of ZX Spectrum functionalities, and Spectacol builds upon this foundation by offering the following capabilities:

• Support for all ZX Spectrum file formats
• Accurate emulation of 16K, 48K, 128K, +2, +2A, and +3 devices
• Quick loading and saving of snapshots, which is particularly beneficial during gameplay
• Convenient joystick type selection
• A suite of debugging tools including poke finder, disassembler, and inline assembler, enabling users to modify gameplay parameters such as gaining infinite lives
• Efficient performance, requiring approximately 15% CPU usage on a Nexus 10 device

In addition to the features provided by FUSE, Spectacol introduces several enhancements:

• The online search function grants access to thousands of ZX Spectrum applications and games. Search results can be downloaded for offline play.
• The user interface is designed with gamepad controls in mind, ensuring seamless compatibility with joystick-supported games.
• An on-screen numeric cursor is available for users with a gamepad, facilitating quick game control.
• An on-screen full and simplified 48K keyboard is provided when the numeric cursor alone is insufficient.
• A virtual joystick option is available for users without a gamepad, allowing for continued gameplay.
